إسماعيل هنية Ismail Haniyeh

إسماعيل هنية، رئيس المكتب السياسي لحركة حماس، وُلد في عام 1963 بمخيم الشاطئ للاجئين غرب مدينة غزة، وذلك بعد فرار والديه من مدينة عسقلان خلال حرب 1948. بدأ نشاطه السياسي الممنهج أثناء دراسته للأدب العربي في الجامعة الإسلامية بغزة.

تولى إسماعيل هنية منصب رئيس وزراء الحكومة الفلسطينية العاشرة لفترة قصيرة بعد فوز حركة حماس في الانتخابات التشريعية عام 2006. إلا أن رئيس السلطة الفلسطينية، محمود عباس، أقال هنية في عام 2007. ورغم ذلك، استمر هنية في إدارة قطاع غزة دون الاعتراف بقرار عباس حتى عام 2017، عندما خلفه يحيى السنوار في إدارة القطاع. بعد ذلك، أصبح هنية رئيس المكتب السياسي لحركة حماس خلفًا لخالد مشعل.

Ismail Haniyeh

Born in the Beach Camp in Gaza City, Haniyeh studied at the Islamic University there, joined the Islamic Bloc at the university from which Hamas emerged, and obtained a bachelor's degree in Arabic literature in 1987. He was appointed chief of staff to Sheikh Ahmed Yassin in 1997, and rose through leadership positions within the movement.

Haniyeh was the head of the Hamas list that won the 2006 Palestinian legislative elections, and became the prime minister of the State of Palestine. However, dismissed by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on 14 June 2007 for the conflict between Fatah and Hamas, Haniyeh did not recognize Abbas's decree and continued to exercise his powers as prime minister in the Gaza Strip.
